Today’s recipe is going against the current trend somewhat. It seems that every other restaurant I visit has a new banting section on their menu, or is advertising dishes that would make Tim Noakes proud. Before we delve into this week’s recipe I wanted to share my most recent dining out experience with you. Black Sheep Restaurant in Kloof Street, Cape Town has been around for a little while now, and it is not surprising to see why it is so popular. There is a seasonal blackboard menu which changes regularly, but no shortage of tasty dishes to choose from. The layout of the restaurant is interesting, with a downstairs bar area and tables set out on multiple levels. Snappy service in a relaxed atmosphere made for a delightful meal.
Last Sunday the 18th of May was World Baking Day, and I was invited by Stork to pledge to bake for someone special. About a week later two friendly chefs arrived at my door bearing a hamper filled with all the ingredients I would need to make a batch of delicious chocolate brownies to mark the day. I thought this was a fantastic idea and was more than happy to get involved (although it doesn’t take much to convince me to bake!).
