Marble loaf cake with coffee glaze

This easy loaf cake is simple enough to whip up as a last minute tea time treat, and you can have a bit of fun creating a swirled effect with the vanilla and chocolate batters.  It’s made with ingredients that I always have on hand, love that! Let’s not forget the simple mocha glaze that goes on top (scroll down for a close up of that drip!), I’m here for all of it.

Orange and rooibos cupcakes

Rooibos and orange cupcake recipe

Hello from a very cold Cape Town! It’s been a crazy two weeks here trying to juggle distance learning, work and the usual day to day admin that needs to happen, and as a result it has taken me a while to get this post together. But I think these delicious cupcakes are definitely worth the wait.

Chocolate and pecan loaf cake

Chocolate and pecan tea loaf cake

I remember baking and photographing this particular loaf on a grey and rainy winter afternoon. The chocolatey aroma wafting from the kitchen was just heavenly, and the wait while it cooled and was being photographed felt like forever. This simple chocolate loaf cake is a delight with its soft crumb and crunchy pops of pecan nuts, all slathered in velvety chocolate buttercream.

Cranberry cookies

I’ve been on the cookie train since lockdown started in March, and this is just one of the many recipes I’ve been playing around with recently. I’ve also tried a number of “health” brownie recipes over the years and while the results have been okay they have never really hit the spot in terms of chocolatey-ness and that dense texture. So I was very excited to discover this recipe for brownies with dark chocolate chunks and blueberries which marries the two perfectly, I may just have found my new favourite brownie recipe.

Apple cake with cream cheese icing

Apple cake recipe

It’s time for another cake recipe! Several weeks ago I was asked to bake an apple cake for Miss M’s class to enjoy as a treat as part of their winter festival on their last day of term. Something simple but beautiful, and of course delicious. I turned to my recipe books for some inspiration and decided to go with an Ottolenghi apple cake recipe – as usual, it did not disappoint!
