I am so excited to announce a brand new recipe series that is starting on the blog today! It’s no secret that I am a hopeless granola addict, and for this series I have teamed up with Nature’s Source to bring you a bunch of delicious recipes and a few different ways of enjoying your granola.

Bakers, it is time to dust off those aprons because I have a real treat for you today! This week I am teaming up with Montagu Dried Fruit and Nuts to bring you some Mother’s Day inspired recipes using delicious dried cranberries. Earlier this week I featured a recipe for butternut, brie and cranberry tartlets, but today it is time for something sweet… how does a lemon, cranberry and poppy seed cake with yoghurt icing sound foodies? (Oh, and loads of pictures of cake, it’s happening.)

Summer holidays are here again and with them (hopefully) some much deserved down time for you all. For many of us this time of year is steeped in tradition, whether that centres around a getaway to a favourite holiday destination, Christmas festivities or the food we eat. It is also a time for reflection on the year gone by and the inevitable question – just where has this year gone? Continue reading “Festive rocky road”
There is a very simple story behind this one. Last weekend we were invited to a Christmas picnic with some playgroup friends and I was asked to bring a plate of sweet eats to share. “Fantastic!” I thought, right up my alley. Crunchies are usually always a hit with adults and children, and the fact that I was having a crazy weekend and needed something I could make in a jiffy made them even more perfect. I have a wonderful basic crunchie recipe which I have previously adapted to make chocolate crunchies and today I wanted to share the Christmas version that I made for the picnic.

A few years ago on my birthday I visited the Cape Town Good Food Show where I was fortunate to meet Gordon Ramsay. Gosh, as I sit here listening to the washing machine whirring away in the background, princess stickers strewn on the floor under my desk and my baby boy napping down the passage, going to shows and meeting celebs seems like another lifetime! Gordon was doing a book signing and this is where I picked up a copy of “World Kitchen”. The book is a collection of recipes from all over the world including France, China and America. It is one my favourites in my collection and everything I have tried so far has been delicious.

Last Sunday the 18th of May was World Baking Day, and I was invited by Stork to pledge to bake for someone special. About a week later two friendly chefs arrived at my door bearing a hamper filled with all the ingredients I would need to make a batch of delicious chocolate brownies to mark the day. I thought this was a fantastic idea and was more than happy to get involved (although it doesn’t take much to convince me to bake!).
