Choc nut frozen yoghurt bark

Picture of healthy yoghurt bark with nut butter

Last month I tried making frozen yoghurt bark for the first time. This light and refreshing snack could not be easier to make and I was so happy with the results. I also get very excited when I try something new and the kids love it (mom win!). When they’re craving a sweet treat or something cool on a hot afternoon then this frozen yoghurt bark hits the spot.

Triple chocolate molten brownie pots (Egg free)

Overhead shot of brownie dessert in individual pots with raspberries and ice cream

Valentine’s Day is coming up and if there’s one treat that never gets old it’s chocolate! This triple chocolate dessert is perfect for spoiling your loved ones (and yourself) and is sure to sweeten up your celebration. It’s dark and rich (not too sweet, which I love) and has a gooey melted chocolate centre. Creamy vanilla ice cream and fresh raspberries complement these warm brownie pots beautifully, it’s pure indulgence.

Back to School: 8 Days of Lunchboxes

Top shots of bowls of snacks

Let me start this post by saying that as parents I don’t think we need to be packing gourmet Pinterest-worthy lunchboxes every day, we are pressured enough as it is! However, I do think that variation and balance are important, and so the purpose of this post is simply to put lots of ideas out there so you can pick and choose the components that you think your children will enjoy and that are do-able in your home.

Mixed berry and granola yoghurt popsicles

Top shot of berry, granola and yoghurt popsicles with a bowl of granola on the side.

My kids are loving these berry yoghurt popsicles at the moment. We’re still enjoying lots of hot summer weather and these frozen pops make a delicious and refreshing snack. Homemade snacks are always a winner because you can control exactly what goes into them, and often homemade is just tastier than store-bought.

Indulgent chocolate brownie trifle (for people who love dessert but don’t like trifle!)

Individual chocolate trifle recipe with chocolate mousse, chocolate brownies, ice cream, mini meringues and berries for people who don't like traditional trifle

It’s my last post for the year and of course it had to be a festive recipe. I’ve been busy in the kitchen baking edible gifts and trying to do as much advance prep as I can for Christmas dinner and if you’re there too I hope it’s going smoothly! We’re ending the year on a sweet note with a recipe that’s inspired by a classic. Let’s face it, trifle is wildly popular at this time of the year but (confession time) I’m really not a fan. I think it’s the soggy combination of boozy finger biscuits, custard and jelly and the piles of cream on top that give me the heebie-jeebies, and it’s just not a dessert that I’ve ever taken to. There are very few dishes that I’ll avoid but when it comes to trifle I’m on a strict “no thanks” diet, ha!

Roasted veggie and tomato pesto tart

This scrumptious tart is a delightful combination of tastes and textures. Golden, flaky puff pastry is topped with flavourful tomato pesto, a medley of roasted vegetables and melty mozzarella – it’s the perfect union of crunch and flavour. Are you hungry yet?

Yo-ho-ho! How to make a pirate ship cake

Ahoy! The inspiration for this birthday cake comes from the official birthday cake handbook of the eighties (and beyond), “The Australian Women’s Weekly Kids’ Birthday Cakes”. How many of you can remember paging through this book as children, ogling all of the beautiful birthday creations? Talk about nostalgia. My copy of the book is not the original but a later version, however it but still features its legendary bakes like the train cake, the princess castle and the swimming pool (if you know, you know).
