Hot cross bun bliss balls

Date balls with dark chocolate

If the walls of boxes filled with marshmallow eggs and armies of foil wrapped Easter bunnies piled high in the shops weren’t enough of a reminder, Easter is just around the corner! Autumn is probably my favourite season of the year, and Easter is definitely a highlight. I love the weather, the autumn colours of the trees, the cooler evenings, and of course – the food!

We are doubling down on nutty goodness this week with a brand new recipe that I put together recently – peanut butter and walnut fudge bites, yum! This is the kind of quick and easy treat that I love snacking on in the afternoon when I need an energy boost and feel like a little something sweet but guilt-free. They are so good!

Gluten free cheese croquettes

Cheese croquettes with sweet chilli sauce

Hi foodies and hello October! We have just returned from a week away in one of our favourite spots, beautiful Knysna. We spent the week in a cosy wood cabin overlooking the Knysna River Valley and it was just the break we needed. Plenty of time spent on our balcony listening to the birds, lots of fresh air, reading, beach time and nature walks – bliss!

Chocolate coconut squares (refined sugar free)

Sugar free chocolate coconut squares

Time for something that’s a little bit naughty but nice… the result of an afternoon spent experimenting in my kitchen. I was originally going for a double layered treat, but then I thought why stop at two? And that’s how these triple decker squares of chocolatey coconut yumminess (that also happen to be gluten and refined sugar free) came into existence. Now these no bake chocolate coconut squares are one of my new favourite things!

Recipe round up: 12 sweet treats to make with cinnamon

Round of sweet cinnamon recipes.

Cinnamon has got to be one of the most delicious and popular spices out there, and I am rather prone to putting it in everything. Aside from its gorgeous flavour it also has several health benefits. It is full of antioxidants, helps to lower blood pressure and has antiviral and anti inflammatory properties. All the more reason to sprinkle a little more cinnamon into your life.

I am betting you have a jar of this wonderful stuff in your pantry, so why not dig it out and try out some of these treats using this versatile spice. Don’t forget to let me know in the comments which cinnamon recipe is your favourite!

Date, seed and nut muesli bars (with video)

Refined sugar free granola bars with oats and honey

I love a good, nourishing snack recipe, and while I often turn to date balls as my go-to home made snack (side note – I cannot believe how tiny Miss M. looks in the photographs in that post!) I love trying out new combinations and recipes using my favourite healthy ingredients. I tend to keep my cupboard stocked with dates and a collection of various nuts and seeds, along with my essentials – oats and honey, so I decided to mix them all together in this delicious muesli bar recipe.
