Valentine’s Day is coming up and this lovely little dessert is perfect for the occasion. It’s inspired by an old chocolate tart recipe I made back in college whilst doing my food training, and I have adapted it by adding a decadent dark chocolate ganache layer and using my favourite sweet pastry recipe for the base. (And if making pastry from scratch for someone isn’t a sign of love then I don’t know what is!)

We have been having plenty of ice cream weather this month, and what better time of the year to enjoy some delicious home made ice cream sandwiches. This recipe is taken from the book “Sweet” by Yotam Ottolenghi and Helen Goh, you may remember me mentioning it in a post a few weeks ago. This book is a must have for anyone who loves their baking and/or treats as it is filled to the brim with recipes for fabulous cakes, desserts, cookies and pies to name a few. There is also an entire chapter devoted to cheesecakes, what’s not to love?!

Happy New Year and hello 2018! I am happy to be back after a lovely break, it was great to have a change from the regular routine for a while. Just five more sleeps until Christmas Day foodies! Are you excited? This week’s recipe comes from a feature I put together for Cheers Magazine last month in which whiskey and sherry were the heroes. I have to be honest and say that sipping spirits has never been my thing, I am more of a wine gal myself! But I do keep a small stash of tipple tucked away for culinary purposes. A splash of brandy here, a dash of sherry there… they certainly add a deep richness to the dishes they are added to. These easy dark chocolate cupcakes are proof that whiskey is not only good for sipping but also has its place in the kitchen (and that cupcakes aren’t just for the kiddies!).
