Hello from a very cold Cape Town! It’s been a crazy two weeks here trying to juggle distance learning, work and the usual day to day admin that needs to happen, and as a result it has taken me a while to get this post together. But I think these delicious cupcakes are definitely worth the wait.


This tea time treat includes a classic South African flavour – rooibos! Not only is it the beverage of choice for many of us (me included) but it can be used in baking and cooking to add a delicate, sweet and earthy taste. I have been wanting to play around with this flavour for a while and decided that I’d start with biscotti.

We are a house of pizza lovers, but sometimes it’s nice to mix it up a little and make something other than the regular cheese and tomato feast. This is where lahmacun (essentially a dough flatbread topped with a minced meat mixture) is a very tasty alternative. I put this scrumptious recipe together a few years ago for a tv cooking segment and realised that I’d never actually shared it here, time to rectify that!

These apple buns are such a treat and my family has requested them many times since I first tested the recipe a few weeks ago. I was so happy with the way they came out! The buns are soft and light, and if you love all things apple like us then you’ll also love the flavour. And to make them extra special they’re topped with a caramel flavoured cream cheese icing, need I say more?
