Apple crumble muffins

We love a batch of freshly baked muffins around here, and these delightfully soft and light apple muffins with a crispy crumble topping are fabulous for tea time. Apple and cinnamon is a flavour match made in heaven, and these muffins come together easily using ingredients that you’ll find in your pantry.

Lemon and rose mini cakes

In my last post I mentioned that I’d visited Ottolenghi in Spitalfields during my U.K. holiday. Being the fan that I am I simply had to make time to pop in during my trip and as I walked towards the restaurant entrance the first thing I spotted was the iconic giant meringues in the shop window, along with a large selection of tempting and beautifully decorated sweet treats, just gorgeous. Nutella thumb cookies

What happens when you take a family childhood cookie recipe and give it a Nutella update? Chocolatey magic, that’s what! Thumb cookies are such a nostalgic bake for me, usually flavoured with almond essence and filled with sticky apricot or strawberry jam. We made and enjoyed them often as kids, and when I taught my own children how to make them they loved them too. Such fun to make!

Star sugar cookies

Last year I was asked to make two hundred individually wrapped star cookies for a school fundraiser and I only realised recently that I haven’t yet shared the recipe! It’s a very easy sugar cookie recipe, but the really fun part is decorating the baked cookies with marbled icing and sprinkles to make cute and unique tea time treats that are sure to delight!
