Let’s start this post with some fun facts about me: Fact #1: 99.99% of my days start in exactly the same way – with a cup of rooibos tea. They have done for about the last seven or eight years. It is fair to say that I am a fan! Fact #2: I used to make iced tea (including a rooibos variant) for a living before my London / travelling years. I was obviously thrilled then to receive an invitation from Freshpak to a creative afternoon with chef, Kirsty Rowett.

Pecan, almond and honey nougat

 
A few weeks ago I announced that the “I Made It” challenge for October would be nougat. This is something that I have always wanted to try, especially when I see images of perfect slabs of nougat in magazines and recipe books or fresh nougat bars in our local delis. So when Tandy over at Lavender and Lime asked me to host the challenge this month I knew this was my chance to challenge myself to master this classic sweet treat.

Macadamia and honey biscuits

I was inspired to put this recipe together after receiving two bags of fresh macadamia nuts from a lovely friend. She is lucky enough to have a tree in her garden and harvests the nuts every year. They are so delicious – I think I will have to set up a standing order!

Honey, soy and lime chicken with noodles

It has been a few weeks since the last “dinner in a flash” recipe post, and I hope you will agree that this one is a goody! This last week has been a whirlwind of appointments, errands and social get-togethers… nothing out of the ordinary now that I think about it! I’m sure most of you can relate to that feeling of being run off your feet, so, flag this recipe because it is perfect for those evenings when, after a crazy day, you want to enjoy a good home cooked meal but with minimal effort. And by minimal I mean you can have this dish on the table in less than twenty minutes – winning!
