No Christmas is complete without a batch or two of homemade mince pies. I have fond memories of making them as a child with my mom and sister during the school holidays, and it is a tradition that has carried on through the years – only now I get to make mince pies with my kids!

Capetonians will be pleased to read that this post has nothing to do with the water crisis… argh, I said it! We are all a little bit obsessed right now you see, (one’s Facebook feed is enough to induce a severe case of hysteria!), and in uncertain times like these we could all do with a little comfort food.
