Happy New Year foodies, it is good to be back! The Christmas tree may have been packed away and the holidays all but over, but summer is still in full swing so let’s keep that festive feeling going for a little bit longer shall we? My first new recipe of the year is a fruity sangria with a white wine twist, the perfect thing to sip on a warm evening. I’ll raise my glass to that!
I wanted white wine to be the hero in this simple sangria recipe to give it a light, summery twist. I used Pinot Grigio in my version but your favourite white wine will do. I also found the sangria sweet enough with the berries and did not find it necessary to add additional sugar. Delish!
So why not get some friends over and whip up some white wine and berry sangria to share – even if you are back at work you can at least pretend to be on holiday! Here’s wishing you all a fabulous and scrumptious 2019. x
Cook’s notes:
- The recipe can be halved if you aren’t serving a crowd.
WHITE WINE AND BERRY SANGRIA
- 1 lime, sliced
- 100ml fresh sliced strawberries
- 100ml fresh blueberries
- 100ml fresh raspberries
- 750ml white wine
- 100ml Cointreau
- 750ml soda water
1.) Place the lime slices, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries in a large jug. Add the white wine and Cointreau and stir.
2.) Add the soda water and stir again. Leave the jug in the fridge for 2-4 hours to chill.
3.) Serve over ice. Best enjoyed within 24 hours.
Such an amazing sangria. It reminds me of the one I drink when I spend my holidays on the beach in Europe. What great memories 🙂
